RENOWNED actor and performer Christopher Biggins has become the newest Patron of the Dame Vera Lynn Trust this week.
The Five Oaks-based charity near Billingshurst, founded in 2001 to help children with cerebral palsy, has already been receiving the help of Mr Biggins, who ran the auction at their 10th Anniversary Ball in London last year.
He also attended Dame Vera Lynn’s recent 95-year celebration lunch at the South Lodge Hotel.
Mr Biggins, the country’s most famous panto dame and an accomplished comedy actor, also won ‘I’m a Celebrity Get me Out of Here’ in 2007.
The Trust Office said: “We are honoured to have Christopher Biggins as a Patron of the Dame Vera Lynn Trust and delighted to have such an enthusiastic and approachable ambassador for the Charity.”
Currently helping around 80 families in West Sussex and Suffolk, the Dame Vera Lynn Trust School for Parents at Ingfield Manor, offers parents and children daily living skills, supporting families with babies and children under five.
The charity survives on the support of the community to raise £630,000 needed to keep its services going. For more information visit their website here.
