UPDATE: Man rushed to hospital after Horsham knife attack

A MAN was rushed to hospital following a knife attack in Horsham yesterday evening (Sunday May 13).

The man, believed to be in his 50s, suffered from a wound to his stomach after the assault at a home in Park Way at around 5.45pm.

Surrey Air Ambulance was called to the scene, landing on top of Piries Place car park.

Police and land ambulance crews were also in attendance.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “Police and ambulance crews attended an address in Park Way, Horsham, shortly before 6pm yesterday following a report that a man was suffering from a wound to his stomach.

“When police arrived a man in his 50s was discovered with a small puncture wound which had been received following an argument between the victim and a woman who was known to him.

“The argument and assault took place within the property and no-one else is believed to have been involved or injured as a result.”

A spokesperson for the air ambulance told the County Times: “The male was taken by land ambulance to a major trauma centre at Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton accompanied by our doctor and critical care paramedic.

“It is a trauma injury and not believed to be life-threatening.”

The man received minor treatment and was released on the same day.

A 51-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. She remains in custody today (Monday May 14).
