UPDATE: 999 dial restored in Southwater
Residents and businesses who were affected by a power outage in areas of Southwater today are now able to ring 999 after having the service restored.
The disruption hit around 1,500 telephone lines starting with the numbers 01403 73 or 82.
Extra police patrols were dispatched in the area.
Insp Mark Hammond, of Sussex Police, said: “We are not aware of any adverse effect on local people and appreciate their support. The service was unavailable for about an hour and 15 minutes, having been restored at 2.30pm.”
