Taxi driver punched in the face during Crawley cab journey

A taxi driver was punched in the face after he picked up three passengers in Crawley.

Police say that they were alerted at around 9.15pm on Monday April 27 after reports of the assault.

A spokesman said: “The taxi driver picked up two women and a man in Basildon Way, Bewbush, just after 9pm and began to drive towards Crawley town centre.

“Along the way, the driver was punched in the face and the vehicle was stopped in the Byrd Road area where the three passengers exited the vehicle.

“Both of the women were described as being between 18 and 22-years old, white, around 5ft 6ins, of slim build and with blonde hair.

“One of the women was wearing a black jacket, white T-shirt and black trousers.

“The man was described as mixed race, aged between 18 and 21, 5ft ins, of average build and with black short hair.

“If anyone witnessed the assault, saw people matching this description or has information to assist the police investigation please report online or call 101 quoting 1379 27/04.”
