Members of staff at a Horsham town centre bar disturbed two men attempting to steal a safe yesterday evening (Tuesday March 10).

Bar staff were cleaning at Mungo’s Bar in Park Place at about 7.25pm, police said, when they disturbed the two intruders.

The men made off with a safe from an upstairs office, which contained a small amount of cash.

However, the safe was dropped in an alleyway as the men fled on foot, and has been recovered.

Police have issued descriptions of the two suspects.

Both are described as around 6’1” tall and of medium build. One man was described in his early 30s, bald, with stubble on his chin and wearing a blue hooded top, light blue jeans and white trainers. The other man was in his late 20s, early 30s.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information can email or phone 101, quoting serial 1534 of 10/3.
