Staff were ‘assaulted by children’ in a village supermarket near Horsham, police said.

Around 7pm on Saturday (August 8), officers were called to reports of anti-social behaviour in the Lintot Square area of Southwater, Sussex Police said.

A spokesman added: “It was reported a group of children were entering business premises in the vicinity and damaging and stealing property. It was also reported that two members of staff in the Co-op store were assaulted by members of the group.”

Police attended but the group had already dispersed. Officers continued to carry out high-visibility patrols in the area for the rest of the evening to ensure the group did not return.
