Police hope to re-unite stolen items with owners

Anyone in the Horsham district and across the county who has had jewellery, clocks, silverware and similar items stolen is being asked to check a police website.

On Saturday April 6 morning, officers from the Chichester Neigbourhood Policing Team executed a search warrant at Ebonys Jewellers in South Street, Chichester, looking for suspected stolen property.

Most of the stock of the shop was seized during Saturday and Sunday, and is being examined in order to establish where it has come from.

No arrests have been made at this stage.

As part of the investigation police have now set up a special website with photos of all the items on display.

There are more than 1,000 items, with an estimated potential total value of between a quarter of a million and half a million pounds.

Sergeant Jason Vickers said; “We like to re-unite owners with their property wherever possible and are inviting anyone who has been burgled in Central and West Sussex, East Hampshire or South West Surrey in the past 12 months to log on and have a look.

“If you think some of it may belong to you, please call us at Sussex Police via 101 quoting Operation Emerald or Serial 0439 of 8/4.”
