A police helicopter was called to Storrington following reports of criminal damage in the area, the force has said.

Police said officers were called to an address in Spierbridge Road at about 2pm on Saturday (July 16).

A spokesman for Sussex Police said: “On arrival there was evidence of criminal damage but the suspect was no longer at the scene. Officers carried out an extensive search of the area which involved the police helicopter.”

Police said Ashley Johnson, a carpenter from Sullington Copse, Storrington, was arrested in Sullington.

The 23-year-old was charged with causing criminal damage and has been bailed to appear at Worthing magistrates on August 2.
