Police appeal after museum break in

Police confirmed that sometime over the weekend of November 5 and 6 the fire station, one of 37 buildings at the Amberley museum site in Station Road, Amberley, was broken into and items were stolen.

A police spokesperson confirmed that the following items were taken: “One brass fire helmet, one leather fire helmet, two World War 2 pattern NFS helmets, one 1960’s pattern black tortoiseshell shape AFS tin helmet with Surrey Crest, one black Bakelite fire helmet with Hampshire crest, one ladies AFS side cap, one bath tub race trophy, two World War 2 medals, one NFS table lighter, one 4in fireman statue, two model helmets (one black, one silver), four 30in brass/copper branches, one brass strainer and possibly two brass carriage lamps.

“The working steam model was found outside having been dropped. It is badly damaged.

“Anyone with information can report online to https://sussex.police.uk/contact-us/response-to-appeal/ quoting serial 890 of 07/11.”
