A man has been arrested by counter terrorism officers at Gatwick Airport.

South East Counter Terrorism Unit officers arrested the 21-year-old man at 1.10am on Saturday (January 29).

A police spokesman said he was suspected of collecting information that would help a person commit an act of terrorism.

There was no threat to passengers or the airport at any stage.

He was arrested under Section 58 of the Terrorism Act 2000 and has been released on bail until April 5.

The Section states it is an offence to collect information of a kind likely to be useful to a person committing or preparing an act of terrorism.
