Police say that the goats needed veterinary treatment after straying from their field and eating laurel plants.

A spokesman said: “The fence to a farm in Nutbourne Lane, Pulborough, was deliberately cut, which allowed goats from the field to get out and eat laurel, which is poisonous to goats, resulting in a large vet’s bill.”
