Four Horsham district men banned from roads for drink driving offences

All four defendants pleaded guilty to drink driving offences.

Andrew Doyle, 76, of Orchard Road, Horsham, was fined £160 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge. He was banned from driving for 18 months.

Chris Morris, 21, of Stane Street, Five Oaks, was fined £400 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £40 victim surcharge. He was banned from driving for 18 months.

Graham Sinclair, 24, of Birches Road, Horsham, was fined £150 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £20 victim surcharge. He was banned from driving for 17 months.

Wilfred Page, 72, of Earles Meadow, Horsham, was fined £300 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 victim surcharge. He was banned from driving for 12 months.

In total, 24 people were arrested as part of Sussex Police’s Christmas drink-drive campaign and banned from the road.

Chief Inspector Natalie Moloney said: “Each of these drivers is beginning 2014 with a driving conviction and the ongoing problems that will cause.

“None of them will be able to use the roads legally this year and all face greatly increased insurance premiums if they want to drive after their bans end.

“Thankfully their actions have not led to the deaths of anyone but each of the motorists was selfish enough to take their life and the lives of other road users in their hands.

“Drink and drug driving remains a problem in Sussex that we are determined to tackle.”

A total of 98 other people have been charged with drink or drug-related driving offences as part of Operation Crackdown.
