A large amount of jewellery was stolen when burglars forced their way in to a home in Coxham Lane on Thursday February 12, between 11.45am and 1.15pm.

The following day, thieves broke into a house in Clivedale Gardens between 5pm and 8.30pm and stole a few hundreds of pounds in cash, police added.

Detective constable Mark Buckley said: “We are investigating these two offences which occurred within just a day of each other in this rural location.

“Both sets of victims are understandably shaken, especially the elderly couple who were at home when the burglars broke in, though they didn’t see or hear anything.

“We are appealing for witnesses to either break-in. Coxham Lane is a busy road and right near a school and it happened right in the middle of the day.

“We are reminding people to be vigilant and report suspicious people and vehicles immediately.”
