Cyclist dies after fall in Rudgwick

A man died after falling from his bicycle and suffering a serious head injury in Rudgwick on Saturday (May 31).

At about 1.10pm, the man in his seventies from Wallington in Surrey was cycling with three friends in Church Street, Rudgwick, when he fell.

Despite first aid from passers-by and attendance by paramedics, he died at the scene.

Sussex Air Ambulance were also called to the incident.

Sergeant Huw Watts of the Sussex Road Policing Unit said; “There is nothing to suggest that any other vehicle was involved, but we would still like to hear from anyone who saw what happened and who has not already spoken to us.”
