BREAKING NEWS: Armed officers in '˜stand off' with suspected gunman' at village home

Armed police are currently in a '˜stand off' with a suspected gunman at a village home, the force has said.

Surrey Police said officers carried out a pre-planned warrant at an address in Careys Road, in Smallfield, at 6am this morning (Thursday July 28).

A spokesman said: “Upon entry to the property a person was seen to be in possession of a suspected firearm.”

The spokesman added armed officers had been called along with the police helicopter and they were currently in a ‘stand-off’ with the suspected gunman who is inside the property.

“A cordon is currently in place on local roads while police deal with the ongoing incident,” police said.

“There is not believed to be any hostages.

“Local residents are thanked for their patience.”

The incident is not believed to be terror related, police added.
