“We say our aim is to change lives through learning, and nights like this one help us to see how we are doing just that.”

Performers from Theatre Inc, a specialised training company created by Chichester College to support young performers living with disabilities, also took to the stage to perform ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’.

The college’s hair and beauty students worked behind the scenes, working together to ensure all the student performers dazzled with theatrical make-up and glamourous hair styling.

But the night belonged to Adam Stepek, who was named the college’s Brightest Star of 2018.

Adam, 17, Business Administration student, was praised for his unwavering dedication to his studies and positive approach to improving life at the college.

Speaking moments after receiving the surprise award, he said: “As the type who continuously pushes to improve myself and others, despite self-esteem issues, I honestly did not expect to achieve the Brightest Star of 2018 award!

“But I did, and I am extremely grateful to the college for giving me space to get on my feet and allowing me to achieve lots beyond my course via Crawley SU, all in only the matter of a year. I will forever treasure the award and I’m already planning to improve the college even further.”
