Town centre traders say roadworks are killing off business. Roadworks have been going on in the Carfax for weeks, and local shops all seem to have been feeling the pinch. Horsham District Council says the £80,000 roadworks scheme is essential for the town.

Official confirmation that plans are afoot to re-open the spectacular Leonardslee Gardens. The picturesque estate was a popular feature of the county before its closure in July 2010. A planning application, put before a council committee this week, revealed that the owners intend to make the site into a financially viable tourist attraction.

A veteran marathon runner from Broadbridge Heath will be part of the Brighton Marathon, despite having to be in a wheelchair. Andy Spriggs, who has motor neurone disease, will be pushed around the course by his nephew Chris.

A man who was caught with illegal images, including child pornography, on his computer was jailed this week. Passing sentence, the judge condemned one image as ‘one of the most disturbing’ he’d ever seen given as evidence in court.
