COUNTY NEWS: Body found after swimmer disappears off Sussex beach

Police have confirmed this morning (Monday, July 25) that a body has been found following the disappearance of a young swimmer from London who got into difficulties in the sea off a Sussex beach yesterday (Sunday, July 24).

A nine-hour search to find the swimmer who went missing was called off last night.

A 19-year-old and man from London in his 30s were rescued after getting into difficulty in the sea at Camber.

Both suffered cardiac arrest but were resuscitated on the beach and airlifted separately to hospital.

Police confirmed a body has been found but have not confirmed it is the missing swimmer.

A spokesman for sussex Police said: “A body was found on Camber beach at 6.20pm on Sunday (July 24) but was declared dead at the scene.

“He has not yet been formally identified although his next of kin have been informed.

“His death is not being treated as suspicious and the coroner has been informed.”
