Council lays out plans for Horsham District

HORSHAM District Council has adopted a new District Plan laying out a clear direction of where the Council’s priorities lie for the four year period 2011-15.

The Plan has been put together with parishes, community groups and others to make sure that it reflects local concerns as well as district-wide issues.

Residents were asked for their views too, which have been taken into account in agreeing the priorities.

Full details of the District Plan are being delivered with the Council Tax information that every home receives. Details are also online at

The District Plan has been developed around six main themes:

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT - Plan for a successful local economy with high levels of employment

EFFICIENCY AND TAXATION - Delivering excellent value and high performance

ARTS, HERITAGE AND LEISURE - Build an arts, leisure and culture reputation that also supports our economy

LIVING, WORKING COMMUNITIES - Working together to support the life of local communities

ENVIRONMENT - A better environment for today and tomorrow

SAFER AND HEALTHIER - Improving health and wellbeing

Looking beyond the difficult financial pressures that the Council currently faces, it is important for everyone that the Council is clear on its future direction, by putting the customer at the heart of the Council’s thinking, making improvements to services and making savings where possible.

Performance against the high level priorities identified in the District Plan will be regularly reviewed to ensure that the Council is on course to achieve its objectives. Updates will be published quarterly on Horsham District Council’s website
