The route provides plenty of opportunity to watch the vintage vehicles make their way from the capital to the Sussex coast.

The route makes its way down the A23, going through Crawley High Street and then drivers join the B2114 to pass through Handcross Hill, Hammer Hill, then B2115 for Whitemans Green, B2036 for Cuckfield, A273 for Burgess Hill and Clayton Hill, then rejoining the A23 at Pyecome for the run into Brighton.

The run’s organisers were criticised for missing out its traditional Crawley High Street stop in 2014.

Peter Smith, Crawley council cabinet member for Planning and Economic Development, said: “We were very dissatisfied with last year’s arrangements so it’s great the Veteran Car Run is returning to the High Street as it’s become somewhat of a tradition in the town as a fun day the whole family can enjoy.

“We are pleased that we have been able to improve the arrangements for this year’s event and will continue to work with the event organisers to maintain Crawley’s vibrant and exciting involvement with the Run.”
