The current UK National Legends Championship leader is set to compete for the INEX Legends Road Course World Title and the World Series Points Title.

Mickel is shipping his very own Championship leading K-Seal backed legends race car off to the USA to contend in this highly respected event.

All drivers participate in qualifying for grid positions in one or two heats and the fastest drivers across the two heats will make the final.

This consisted of 60 drivers back in 2001 when Mickel succeeded in bringing home the winner’s trophy and the prestigious title of world champion.

Mickel said: “This is a great opportunity following a successful UK season so far. This opens up the prospect for me to possibly lift three important championship titles, all within a month of each other.”

The finals will take place on October 17 and 18 on the 1.6 mile New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

His other potential title is shaping up to be the UK National Legends Championship title after another sizzling round at Snetterton in September.

Mickel went into round 14 following a full sweep of six race wins out of a possible six races at the last meeting at Silverstone.

He smashed a championship record by racking up 11 back-to-back wins and setting a new course record lap time of 2min 14.869sec.

He racked up three race wins on Saturday and a further two race wins on Sunday. In the final race he put the brakes on the legends record after being taken off by a driver who was later punished for dangerous driving, but with a lap record won as well, even Mickel couldn’t complain.

He finished third on the day and there has since been a possible disqualification of two further drivers for rule infringements which could possibly push Mickel up into second place overall.

The official points have not yet been published due to the pending results, however, the Mickel Motorsport Team believe that the championship lead has now been extended to over 700 points - with only 1,200 left to race for.
