Centre to celebrate work of Horsham district volunteers at town events

Horsham Volunteer Centre is marking the 30th National Volunteers Week at several events next week.

Thursday, 29th May 2014, 3:06 pm

The annual celebration, which takes place in the first week in June, recognises the fantastic contribution that millions of volunteers make across the UK all year round.

To mark the occasion, Horsham Volunteer Centre, part of Horsham Voluntary Action, will be promoting volunteering at different locations throughout the week.

On Monday June 2 Horsham Volunteer Centre will have a desk at Horsham Library from 10am to 2pm.

On Tuesday June 3 from 9.30am to 2.30pm they will be in the Octagon, in Chart Way, which has been the home of the Volunteer Centre for more than 10 years.

On Thursday June 5 they will be at the Hot Spot stand in the Carfax market from 9am to 5pm.

Horsham Volunteer Centre co-ordinates all sorts of volunteering opportunities across the Horsham district.

It was first set up in 1980 and now has than 200 organisations and community groups registered with it. There are more than 350 voluntary opportunities available through the organisation.

With hundreds of enquiries each year, the centre provides a link for volunteers in identifying voluntary openings to suit them.
