A Horsham IT firm was named as one of the South Central’s best employers at the National Apprentice Awards and National Training Awards last week.

Damovo UK, based in Broadlands Business Park in Langhurstwood Road, was given the award at a joint awards regional final at Chichester College.

A global leading provider of communications solutions and services, it has worked in partnership with Northbrook College, in Worthing, to take on a number of ICT apprentices each year.

Alex Williams, head of service operations UK, said: “Damovo were delighted to win the category for National Apprenticeship Awards, BAE Systems Large Employer of the Year.

“Damovo UK has seen great value bringing young local people into the business since restarting our apprentice scheme three years ago.

“The apprentices have brought enthusiasm and fresh ideas into the business and are now playing an important role in our thinking around succession planning and internal promotion. Our annual employee survey results have shown a year on year improvement in employee satisfaction since the scheme was introduced, demonstrating the positive impact the apprentices have on everyone in the business.”

The National Training Awards recognise organisations that have delivered outstanding training programmes, while the National Apprenticeship Awards celebrate the achievements of the country’s most outstanding apprenticeship employers and their apprentices.

They received more than 1,500 entrants this year.

All the South Central winners will go on to the national judging stage, with the winners announced at the UK’s largest national skills and careers event, WorldSkills UK - The Skills Show, at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham on November 14.
