The Airports Commission report, likely to affect the future of both Gatwick and Heathrow, is due to be made public on Wednesday.
The Secretary of State will make a statement to the House of Commons, following Prime Minister’s Questions that morning.
With demand for flights on the rise, the commission will be advising on the best way to expand airport capacity to cope.
There are three options on the table: building a new runway at Heathrow, building a new runway at Gatwick, or extending one of Heathrow’s existing runways.
While waiting for the report, the companies running Heathrow and Gatwick have each claimed that their airport is the best option.
Meanwhile, members of the public living under flight paths have formed pressure groups in the hope of deterring the Government from adding to their problems.
