Gregory and Seeley Eyewear in Cranleigh have recently invested in a revolutionary piece of diagnostic equipment that can detect a number of serious eye conditions, such as glaucoma, age related macular degeneration (AMD) and diabetic retinopathy during an eye test.
The piece of equipment, pictured, is called a 3D Optical Coherence Tomography system (3D OCT).
Gregory and Seeley say that they are the only practice in the local area offering this unique form of ocular investigation.
The practice was nominated as one of the top five independent opticians in the UK, 2015.
It is also one of the oldest in the UK, having been established in 1910.
OCT is an advanced eye scan for people of all ages. Similar to ultrasound, OCT uses light rather than sound waves to reveal the many layers that make up the back of the eye.
Never before has it been easier to locate and identify eye conditions that affect the layers below the surface.
Gregory and Seeley’s optometrists can then review the images on a PC screen and pinpoint areas of concern.
For the majority of patients, OCT provides significant reassurance that the deeper layers of their eye are healthy.
Gregory and Seeley says: “Thriving to provide the best eye care, can now provide this state of the art diagnostic tool with your eye test, if you so desire.”
