Family-owned Bramber Construction were honoured at the Constructing Excellence in London and the South East Awards 2012.

Formed in 1978, they were highly commended in the SME Year of the category, sponsored by Worthing Homes, at a gala dinner and awards ceremony at Church House Conference Centre in Westminster.

Shaun Hopper, director of Bramber Construction, said: “We provide an example of the impact one small company can have on a community.

“We actively work with 950 local suppliers and tradespeople in the region and use locality as one of our selection criteria.

“Our shareholders and management team take the responsibility for treating the people we work with ethically – often going beyond what is required by covering suppliers’ accounts to support one-man businesses.”

As part of the selection process for the awards, shortlisted projects presented to a judging panel including sponsors and leading procurers such as the Olympic Delivery Authority, BAA, Royal Mail, B&Q and the Environment Agency.

In highly commending Bramber Construction, the judges said: “Bramber Construction deserve praise, and to be highly commended, for the value and respect they have shown to their workforce, an ethos which has played a part in the company’s success.”

Derek Rees, chief regional director of Constructing Excellence London and South East, said: “This year we received more high quality entries from more companies than ever before.”
