A series of plans to boost business for local outlets both in the run- up to Christmas and in the New Year have been announced by Horsham District Council’s Economic Development team.
For outlets in the Piries Place and Park Place areas of Horsham town, plans are being developed for a special trail-based campaign in the New Year promoting that it’s very much business as usual in this important trading area during the regeneration of the Piries Place site.
As Christmas approaches, independent retailers across the Horsham District are also benefiting from a special promotion: Window Wonderland, organised by the council, supporting them in the art of creative window and in store displays.
A council spokesman said: ‘‘Don’t forget to vote for your favourite shop window by Sunday 16 December online at www.windowwonderland.info.’’
This promotion forms part of an overall training and support programme - ‘Your Customer Experience’ - for independent retailers across the District, making visits to our high street more enjoyable and rewarding for all. The council’s ‘Your Customer Experience’ free retail training programme is already well underway and receiving lots of positive feedback from the businesses taking part. All participating businesses are invited to apply for shop improvements grants from funds secured by the council.
Cabinet Member for the Local Economy, Gordon Lindsay, said: “We are delighted to be supporting our local traders during this important trading time.
“Horsham District is renowned for its excellent retailers and businesses which creates a unique attraction for shoppers.
“The Piries Place redevelopment is well underway and this multi-million pound regeneration will create a high quality shopping and leisure experience for everyone.
“As the redevelopment continues it is still very much ‘business as usual’ for the retailers and restaurateurs in this key area of Horsham town centre and I encourage as many people as possible to continue to support them particularly as they will have some amazing promotions on offer.”
