CHRISTMAS presents, more than a thousand pounds in cash and Second World War medals were just some of the items burgled from homes in the South Downs District over the festive period.
The spate of burglaries took place between Christmas Eve and the New Year and Sussex Police are appealing for any witnesses to the crimes.
Police warned residents to be extra vigilant during the period particularly as many people leave their homes unoccupied.
PC Michael Dowling of Sussex Police said: “The recent spate of burglaries appears to have been curtailed by police and neighbourhood watch raising awareness of the issue.
“Police ask the public to continue to liaise to stop burglaries happening in the future.”
