A car has collided with a church hall in Broadbridge Heath this morning (Thursday September 25).

Police at the scene of the incident, in Church Road, said the collision occurred at around 8.15am when a car went through the window of St John’s church hall.

No one is believed to have been injured in the accident, and the building was not occupied at the time of the collision.

A spokesperson for South East Coast Ambulance Service said a woman in her 30s was treated at the scene for neck and back pain but no further treatment was needed.

Church administrator Sarah Tombling said: “Obviously we are very relieved nobody was injured in the car or in the office.

“The building was not occupied at the time which is good.”

She added that use of the hall has been temporarily suspended.

The area has been cordoned off by police, and a police car and ambulance attended the scene.

A villager said: “It was a very dramatic scene with the car sticking out of the hall. Thankfully it seems that no one was injured.”

Police said the cause of the collision is under investigation.

A spokesperson for Sussex Police said: “The woman driving the car was shaken but not hurt.

“Surveyors have been called to examine the structure and arrange extrication of the car.”
