UP TO 500 jobs at Novartis in Horsham are at risk after the company today (Wednesday) announced plans to dramatically reduce the scale of its town centre site.
If the proposals go ahead, the workforce at one of Horsham’s largest and most prestigious employers could more than halve from the current 950.
The pharmaceutical manufacturing operations in Horsham are proposed to close and it is planned to partially close the Global Development Site in there as well, both with a potential exit over a two-year period.
The company intends to retain its respiratory research unit which employs 330 people in Horsham.
The firm says the proposals are part of its ongoing efforts to align resources to better respond to patients and customers in a challenging healthcare marketplace.
