Two drivers have been taken to hospital after a 26-tonne lorry and two cars crashed in Ardingly.

A police spokesman said College Road was shut after the lorry, a Peugeot 207 and a Land Rover Discovery towing a trailer collided near the High Street at about 4.45pm today (Wednesday March 16).

He said: “One of the car drivers, a woman, sustained chest injuries. The lorry driver sustained leg injuries when he and a passing vehicle were in collision after he had dismounted from his cab.

“Casualties were taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton, by ambulance.

“The road was closed while emergency services dealt with the incident.”
