Billingshurst cancer survivor set to host fundraising raffle

Dani Grammer-Taylor, from Billingshurst, was diagnosed nine months ago with a one in a million, rare form of cancer.

The former Collyer’s student has had numerous operation and spent the past six months receiving chemotherapy but was over the moon last month when she received the news her tests had come back all clear.

She said: “It was one of the toughest experiences of my life so far.

“It doesn’t really seem real. When I got told I was over the moon but I kept thinking I still have chemo next week.

“I would like to thank my parents because they have given up their lives for me. Without them it would have been a lot harder. They have kept me positive and been amazing.”

To celebrate the news Dani has organised a charity raffle, with help from broadband supplier Home Telecom and telecoms solution company Global 4, which was scheduled to be drawn at her 21st birthday party on February 7. However, due to the amount of donations, the date of the draw has been forced back.

“We have got quite a few more prizes than expected, we have got more than 70 now. I was going to draw it at my party but we worked out it was going to take five minutes drawing each one which would take more than six hours so we will have to move it. I wanted to do a raffle to try and raise more awareness for Cancer Research. They have helped me a lot through the last nine months and I wanted to give something back.”
