Become a Horsham ambassador - and make a real difference to where you live

Become a Horsham ambassador.
Become a Horsham ambassador.

Do you love living in Horsham and the surrounding towns and villages across the district?

Would you like to be more involved in your community - helping to shape it and celebrating all that makes it special?

Would you welcome the opportunity to cut the ribbon opening a local event or making a short speech?

The County Times is seeking applications from local people - of all ages, interests, backgrounds and views - to join a small team of Community Ambassadors.

It’s not a paid role - but nor will it take up much time and can fit around your daily routine.

Following outrage over the Tory group’s politicising of the role of council chairman on Horsham District Council with a three line whip determined at a secret meeting, we are keen to find a new way of cementing community pride.

The chairman’s role has traditionally been politically neutral and ceremonial in nature. Someone to pull the whole community together.

In our view, that community function has been honourably performed in the past, including by the present chairman, but it is time for a new approach following last week’s outcry.

So let us know if such a role appeals to you.

It’s a great way of getting to know Horsham better and to building your skills and cv if you are a younger member of the district.

You should not be an active member of any political party, but that apart anyone is free to apply.

Simply send us an e-mail to or Tweet us at @wscountytimes using the hashtag #wsambassador.

There will be more details in the newspaper edition of the County Times printed on Thursday.
