Barriers have started to go up around Horsham’s Shelley Fountain this morning (Wednesday June 15).
A worker at the scene said they were carrying out maintenance on the town’s controversial landmark.
He could not confirm whether the works involved the removal of the fountain.
Back in April Horsham District Council voted to remove the Rising Universe.
Repairs and maintenance have cost taxpayers in excess of £200,000 since its installation - and the water feature has not been turned on since 2013.
The council has been approached for comment.
