On Saturday March 1, four dedicated employees from Barclays Bank in Horsham provided valuable assistance at Age UK Horsham District’s annual Ostara Ball at South Lodge.
As part of the Barclays ‘Volunteers in the Community’ programme; Lorraine Caswell, Lynda Mitchell, Mandy Garman and Patricia Lefevre helped to raise money on the night through the raffle and auction of pledges which was then matched by Barclays Bank and as a result the Horsham branch made a donation of £1,000 to the local charity.
Seen in the picture are three of the volunteers presenting the cheque to Deborah Johnston, the ball co-ordinator.
The Ostara Ball is a major fundraising event in the Age UK Horsham District calendar and raises crucial funds for Age UK Horsham District who offer vital services for older people in the area.
“Support like this from local business shows a company’s real interest in the community,” said Deborah Johnston in thanking Barclays Bank manager, Steven Fogden, for his company’s support.
The Barclays ladies confessed to having a great deal of fun saying: “We had such a fantastic night. It was a wonderful event and knowing that the money will help the local community is great. We can’t wait to be involved again next year. Sign us up!”
Age UK Horsham District are already planning next year’s Ostara Ball that will take place on February 28 2015 with manager Steven Fogden confirming that he was happy to support the ladies again in their fundraising next year.
