Bandstand summer programme

HORSHAM town centre will soon be ringing with the sound of live music as the weekly programme of bandstand concerts return once more for a summer of sound.

The concerts are free and take place on the Carfax bandstand in Horsham town centre every Saturday from April 28 until the end of September. A new fortnightly programme has also been added so that visitors to the town on Sundays don’t miss out.

Free Sunday concerts are also on offer on Horsham Park’s podium every fortnight from May 6 to August 25 from 2:30pm to 4:30pm.

All the favourite local bands will play, such as Horsham Borough Band and the Slinfold Concert Band, as well as The Crawley Millennium Concert Band, Mid Sussex Brass band, West Chiltington Silver Band, The Salvation Army Band and others, many returning as popular regulars.

Jonathan Chowen, (Con, Cowfold, Shermanbury and West Grinstead) Horsham District Council’s cabinet member for Arts, Heritage and Leisure, said: “These superb bandstand concerts are an annual feature in Horsham’s events calendar and are an asset to the town during the summer months.

“We have changed the programme this year to include more Sunday concerts, enhancing Horsham’s shopping experience, creating a pleasant ambience and boosting the visitor economy.

“For those coming in to Horsham to listen to the concerts I would encourage visitors to make a day of it: explore some of the unique shops Horsham has to offer, enjoy the beautiful park landscape, visit Horsham Museum and Art Gallery and perhaps end the day with a show or movie at The Capitol or a fine meal with friends at one of the excellent town centre restaurants.

“Horsham makes a great day out for visitors of all ages.”
