Actress Amanda Waring will be flying the flag for Horsham District Age UK at the Grand Charity Ball next year.

A need for an increase in funds in order to continue providing activities prompted a small team of staff and volunteers led by day centre co-ordinator, Deborah Johnston, to arrange the event to be held at February 23 2013 at South Lodge Hotel, Lower Beeding.

Deborah said: “There will be a champagne reception followed by dinner with entertainment and an inspirational speaker. Then there will be music for dancing, with Sound Investment, a popular local band.

“We are having a raffle and an auction of donated prizes. People have been very generous in donating items for this. I am looking forward to a great night out.”

Amanda Waring, also a passionate campaigner for older people’s rights, will speak after the meal. Amanda’s award winning, powerfully emotional film, ‘What do you see?’, starring Virginia McKenna, has been used in dignity training sessions around the world.

South Lodge Hotel has offered special prices for guests wishing to stay overnight. For more details and to buy tickets go to or call Deborah on 01403 24013 or 07809 240223 or email
