Arundel Festival: poetry and talk

Two presentations remain in the Arundel Festival’s Words & Music Around Town series of talks.

Friday, August 26, 12 noon,57 Maltravers Street, Arundel. Tickets: £10. Nothing prepares You. Vivimarie Vanderpoorten will read her poetry and talk about her influences. Vivimarie has lived through turbulent times, both personal and national in her native Sri Lanka. She is senior lecturer in language studies at the Open University of Sri Lanka and has just completed her doctoral thesis on language policy implementation and the politics of bilingual education at the University of Ulster. Her first volume, Nothing Prepares You (2007). Wine will be served following the event.

Friday, August 26, 6pm, 57 Maltravers Street, Arundel. Tickets: £10. Arundel Rocks: a multimedia presentation of the geology of the South Downs by Peter Smith. Peter is a chartered geologist with wide experience in earth, environmental and marine sciences. As well as holding a number of supervisory positions in operating oil companies in the UK and Australia, he has taught and researched in universities in the UK and the USA and been involved in exploration and environmental projects from the Arctic to Australia. Wine will be served following the presentation.
