For the second year running, M&S Energy is offering community groups across the South-East the chance to apply for funding.

Any not for profit organisation is eligible to apply, whether a sports club, library, amateur dramatic society, village hall or school.

Applications close on Tuesday May 31 and there is more than £350,000 up for grabs.

Following the initial application and short-listing process the winners will be decided by public vote - getting customers and community members involved in selecting the projects they believe will offer the greatest benefit.

And this year, for the first time, projects will also be able to simultaneously crowdfund with Newquay-based Crowdfunder - raising money and support from the beginning.

Jonathan Hazeldine, Head of M&S Energy, is urging community groups to get their entries in quickly.

He said: “It’s been fantastic to see so many innovative and inspirational projects benefit from the 2015 M&S Energy Community Energy Fund. We’re excited to begin the search for more groups who can really make a difference to their local communities.

“As a 100 per cent green energy provider, supporting those who share our vision of a sustainable future through renewable energy is really important to our company, our customers and our colleagues.”

To date Crowdfunder has raised more than £17m for thousands of businesses, social enterprises, charities and individuals - and unlocked millions more through match funding and support.

Crowdfunder Founder Rob Love said: “Crowdfunding is a great way to get people involved in your idea and we’re delighted to be joining M&S Energy in the hunt for innovative projects.

“This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone who wants to turn their great ideas into reality. They will get the chance to join our crowdfunding community - not just for the length of the competition but for years to come.”

Last year’s competition saw nearly 250 applications with 132 making the shortlist and 26 projects awarded funding.

Full details on how to enter are available at M&S Energy’s website; www.mandsenergyfund.com.
