OCTOGENARIAN marathon man Roy Redford has conquered his 53rd 26.2 mile challenge.
The 82-year-old, of Glebelands in Pulborough, completed the London Marathon is just over seven hours on Sunday.
Roy has also run marathons in New York, Berlin, Disney World, Florida and on the Isle of Wight.
This time he was running for the Motor Neurone Disease Association, his 20th outing for the charity, for which he has previously raised £190,000.
He said: “It was quite tough really because it got quite hot at times. I’m pleased I finished it.”
He vowed to continue running marathons for as long as he possibly could.
As well as meeting Princess Anne at St James’s Palace last year he is also the first person to run for the Salvation Army.
Roy has kept in shape by visiting sports injury therapist Judith Bowles at Loxwood Sports Centre every month for the last 18 years.
