The first downloadable content pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was launched this week.
Called “Awakening” the map pack was released on Tuesday playable first exclusively on PlayStation 4
The Awakening DLC will be bundled into a 9.1 GB patch which will include a new content pack as well as fixes and updates to improve the general playing experience.
Activision has warned gamers it may take a bit more than two hours to download the entire patch for those with a connection speed of 10MB.
The content features four new multiplayer maps called Gauntlet, Rise, Skyjacked, and Splash.
The design for each map is aimed at enhancing combat style present in Call of Duty with each location offering a different degree of craft and creativity.
My personal favourite is Splash, a brilliantly original deserted waterpark - and yes you can go through the slides.
Rise is a construction area set in Zurich, Gauntlet is set in a military facility with three very distinct areas and Skyjacked is a flying airship with more than a nod to the Hijacked map in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2.
In addition to the exciting new game maps, Awakening DLC also includes the first chapter for another Zombies story. ‘Der Eisendrache’.
It is set during World War II in a medieval Austrian castle and is as twitch-inducingly terrifying as ever.
Awakening is the first of four expansions planned for the military science fiction and first-person shooter game.
It costs £11.59 to buy from the PlayStation store.
CODBO3 has met with mostly positive reviews since it was released back in November last year and averages around 8/10 in review scores.
It was nominated for best shooter and best multiplayer game at the Games Awards 2015.
