Second album - not a problem

That tricky second album hasn’t been a problem for ska-rock outfit Imperial Leisure who play the Green Door Store, Brighton, on Friday, March 23 at 7pm, says spokeswoman Kairen Kemp.

“The band are about to release the hotly-anticipated follow-up to the sizzling The Art Of Saying Nothing. Whilst their debut was packed full of summer anthems and tales of booze, mates and the landlord’s daughter, new release Death To The One Trick Pony is a more grown-up affair.

“But don’t fret. There is still plenty of fun to be had. With equal measures of brass and riffs, it sees the band explore their rockier side whilst still staying true to all things ska.”

Kairen added: “Since forming in North London back at school, Imperial Leisure have been gigging up and down the country, with supports slots for the like of Ugly Duckling. Less Then Jake, Gym Class Heros, Young Blood Brass Band, Roots Manuva, The Suger Hill Gang, Sonic Boom Six and The King Blues. There has also been the odd guerrilla gig too, including a rather spectacular performance under the Eiffel Tower and an appearance on ITN News. They can also say they played at Reading Festival 2007, even if it was just in the car park!

“As the band racked up more and more shows and high-profile radio plays, their fan base grew. Now they are hoping to give their dedicated fans an extra treat. Death To The One Trick Pony will be released in partnership with PledgeMusic. This means that ‘pledgers’ will be able to get their hands on rare, signed and personalised Imperial Leisure items plus VIP experiences that will come direct from the band.”

Over 18s only at the Brighton gig.
