Kingswood: Our Place outlines its plans for the future
“We want beautiful new places where communities can flourish” – Our Place outlines its plans for its sustainable new town, Kingswood
As Horsham District Council considers where to build more homes in the coming decades, we are on a mission to create something sustainable, walkable and beautiful at Kingswood.
Kingswood – what is it and where?
Referred to by the Council as “land at Adversane”, Kingswood is a proposal to deliver a sustainable new community for all ages, with schools, surgeries and jobs all within walking distance of where people live.

Who is behind the plans at Kingswood?
New towns of this quality, scale and ambition can only be created when experienced, talented and passionate individuals come together, with a common purpose, to deliver something unique.
Our Place was established to offer enlightened solutions to the need for homes, services and jobs and has brought together a talented team with experience of the best exemplar new places such as Chapelton, Tornagrain and Poundbury. The team is driven by a commonpassion to deliver great new legacy places we can take pride in. Click here to find out more about the team.
The need for new homes doesn’t have to mean ugly housing estatesMany people accept that more homes need to be built. But people are fed up of having to put up with more of the same – housing estates built by volume housebuilders, which lack character, identity and amenity. That has to change.Kingswood is fundamentally different to what we have accepted from volume housebuilders – this is about creating a place that prioritises quality and beauty – a place where people will want to live and work.
As master developers and legacy landowners, Kingswood will be delivered in phases, by local medium sized builders, to an agreed Masterplan and to a strict design code, ensuring there is no compromise on quality and delivery.
In May we announced that Millwood Designer Homes had been appointed as the preferred delivery partner for the first phase of Kingswood and we look forward to working with other local housebuilders if given the opportunity.
Sustainability not sprawlNobody wins when we build on the edge of existing settlements. Our villages and towns lose more of their precious green spaces, air quality levels get worse, amenities are stretched, and the new residents feel isolated from the heart of their community.
In addition to not being in the Green Belt, Kingswood is also situated within an area of comparatively low ecological value according to the Sussex Biodiversity Record Centre.
With commitments to the environment and Nature at the core of everything we do, Kingswood has been masterplanned to embrace its natural setting and commits to protect and enhance existing flora, fauna, ancient woodland and increase biodiversity by a minimum of 15%.
What do people say?
The significant opportunities at Kingswood have not gone unnoticed. Earlier this year, the West Sussex County Times reported that the Chief Executive of the Chichester College Group, which runs the nearby Brinsbury College campus, urged the Council support Kingswood.
Others, such as the Chairman of the Rural West Sussex Partnership, Roger Paterson, highlighted the ideal location of Kingswood in enabling the delivery of thousands of new jobs here in Sussex - approximately 2850, which would represent one job for every home built.
If and when plans progress further, then we are absolutely determined to ensure that the community are comprehensively consulted and feel part of theKingswood journey. In the meantime, more information can be found on our website – www.kingswoodsussex.co.uk – which includes an FAQs page.”
Our Place is on a mission to create a place of beauty and opportunity that sets new standards. Let’s deliver it together!
