Southwater Parish Council said following Government advice playgrounds will reopen from Monday, July 6.

A spokesman added: “All of our playgrounds have been inspected. However, we cannot clean all of our playgrounds once they are back in use to ensure that they are free of COVID-19 and so will be asking parents and carers to take reasonable precautions.

“Please be aware the play area facilities would have been safety inspected but cannot be sanitised.

“Please take all reasonable precautions to ensure your and your family’s safety. The 2m social distancing rule remains in place – please be respectful of other people.

“If you or any of your party are showing symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) DO NOT enter the play area. Return home and seek medical assistance.”

Equipment which can accommodate multiple children e.g. climbing frames or a basket swing should be used by one family unit at a time, he said.

The spokesman added: “If a piece of equipment or the playground is busy please wait patiently or come back later.

“Adults (and your children) are reminded to ensure good hygiene by providing regular hand sanitation, especially on leaving the playground.”

He urged people to hand sanitise before and after and it wash hands as soon as you can.

The spokesman said: “Please avoid drinking or eating in the playground. Please place your litter in a bin, or take it home with you.”

Broadbridge Heath Parish Council announced it is now planning the reopening of its playgrounds.

It said as soon as the required signage has been produced and installed sites at Charrington Way, Singleton Road, The Ducky and The Village Centre will be able to open.

A spokesman added: “This is expected to be next week – we will be sure to share the news of the re-openings with the community.

“Please note, until this time the play areas remain closed.

“All of our playgrounds have been inspected. However, we cannot clean all of our playgrounds once they are back in use to ensure that they are Covid -free and so will be asking parents and carers to take reasonable precautions.”
