Mid Sussex school is first in Britain to join major Covid project
A Mid Sussex school is the first in the UK to be involved in a major Covid research project.
Parents of children at Warden Park Secondary Academy in Cuckfield have been invited to take part in the project which is being led by a Covid Symptom Study and King’s College, London.
The parents can download a special app to report how their children are feeling each day.
Warden Park headteacher Dom Kenrick said: “This is particularly exciting as Warden Park is the first secondary school in the UK to be included in the research programme.
“The app will be a powerful tool in helping school and parents understand Covid in the community and help keep students safe.
“Additionally, the information will be invaluable to critical scientific research into Covid in children and for public health purposes.”
He added: “Over the last few weeks, as part of our preparations for reopening, I have been in conversation with the people behind the Covid-19 Symptom Study and King’s College, London, who are overseeing the related research, about getting them to open up access to their app to include schools.
“I very much hope that parents will get involved and help to provide us in our community with access to the best possible data on the health of our community whilst also contributing to the enormous national effort.”
