Seventeen-year-old Joshua Hardy and his sister Hannah, 16, have been selling special face masks in a bid to not only help the hospital but also to protect other people during the Covid-19 pandemic.

And so far the siblings have raised more than £2,400 with 100 per cent of the profits going to the hospital.

“Without the treatment I had at Great Ormond Street, my life would be incredibly different,” said Joshua.

Sales of the protective washable, reusable, cotton face masks will, he says, enable the hospital “to continue to deliver the best, life-changing care for seriously ill children.”

Joshua and Hannah, who are involved in representing patients and their families at the hospital, have launched a website to sell the protective masks.

Hannah said: “It’s such a fantastic cause and I’m looking forward to raising as much money as possible,” adding that public support would “fund our efforts to help GOSH to continue treating seriously-ill children during this time.”

Laura Savory, head of community events at Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity said: “We’re so grateful to Joshua and Hannah Hardy for their generosity and support. The money raised from orders and sponsorship will help to make a difference to seriously ill children from across the UK.”

The face masks are available in single packs for £7.99 or packs of four at £30.36 with free nationwide delivery.

“We want to help the public protect themselves and fundraise for GOSH, meaning you #giveandget,” added Joshua.

Joshua and Hannah have recently partnered with what they call ‘a generous donor’ who will be making a limited edition of hand-made leopard-print and floral face masks.
