Henfield care home staff and residents among first to get coronavirus vaccine

Residents and staff at a Henfield care home have been invited to be vaccinated against coronavirus.

Those at Barchester’s Red Oaks care home were delighted about the invitation to have the jab, a spokesman for the home said. The vaccine has lifted everyone’s spirits after what has been a very challenging year for everyone, she added.

General Manager, Linda Ryan said: “We’ve had a year like no other and having both residents and staff receiving the vaccine feels like the light at the end of the tunnel.

“Our teams have been magnificent in how they have risen to every challenge during this pandemic and we are proud to play our part in this next phase to ensure the most vulnerable are protected.”

Nanette Buck, resident at Red Oaks added: “I feel lucky to be one the first residents to be given the vaccine.

“It is the first step in getting things back to normal and having a buzz of visitors in the home once again.”

A spokesman for Red Oaks said: “We are welcoming new residents into our homes to ensure that we are there for those that need care and support, and have a very clear protocols that must be met including a transition period into our home to help keep everyone safe.
