Adam Bardouleau has been raising awareness of mental health since his brother Matt Bardouleau tragically took his own life. He wants to get people talking, so they understand it is okay not to be okay.

Adam, who lives in Worthing, is head of PE at Dorset House School in Bury and is part of the coaching team at Worthing Football Club, having ended his long relationship with Storrington Community Football Club last year, but he admits he has always hated running.

He said: “Anyone who knows me is aware of my negative relationship with running. I have set myself the challenge of running 100 miles in 30 days.

Mind is a charity held very close to my family’s heart. Matt, my brother, tragically took his own life in August 2019 and we as a family have been attempting to raise money and awareness ever since.”

Adam is running various routes with different family friends, one at a time. He is including Cissbury Ring, one of Matt’s favourite walks, the seafront and around the village where he works.

Having already covered 71 miles and raised more than £3,170, Adam said: “It is a massive added incentive running and pushing myself from all the messages and donations I have received. I did not expect this amount of fantastic support from donations to messages - it is really touching.”

Close friend Joe Warner has joined Adam for a run on the seafront and is supporting his awareness campaign.

Joe said: “By taking on this challenge, he has got so many people talking. This is Adam’s main goal, to raise awareness of mental health. Not only is Bards raising money for a fantastic charity but he is also getting so many people talking and highlighting that it’s okay not to be okay. I am so proud of him and his whole family.”
