TV star David Walliams gives special message to Horsham school pupils
A surprise special message from TV personality David Walliams has delighted children and staff at a school near Horsham.
The actor, author and Britain’s Got Talent judge sent a special lockdown video to children at New Barn School in Broadbridge Heath.
He asked the youngsters in the video how they were all doing ‘in these strange times’ and said he was thinking of all of them and sending his love.
School administrator Debbie Baston said: “We have had such a great response from students and families alike and it has been a fantastic boost for everyone in the current situation.”
The school, which opened three years ago, is an independent day school for pupils diagnosed with autism aged between seven and 19.
David Walliams sent his special video after Chris Beard, one of the school’s learning support assistants, thought it would be a lovely idea if the famous children’s author could read to students during their popular ‘Drop Everything and Read’ Time.
Debbie said: “It was a bit of a shot in the dark, ” adding: “We subsequently received the video message, which we really appreciated David taking the time to do.”
