Holbrook Community Pre-School, in St Marks Lane, was visited by inspector Hannah Barter on February 8 and her findings were published on February 24.

Ms Barter described the quality of teaching at Holbrook as ‘outstanding’ and the pre-school as a whole as ‘highly stimulating’.

Her report stated: “All children make outstanding progress in relation to their starting points. They are excited and keen to learn.”

Ms Barter said the skills youngsters learned at Holbrook prepared them “exceptionally well” for their move to school. The pre-school was last inspected in September 2010, when it was also rated ‘outstanding’.

The news came as no surprise to the parents, who took to social media to congratulate pre-school leader Nicky Moors and her team.

Katie Baldorino said: “Congratulations and well-deserved. There could of course only be one judgement. Glad the inspectors could see the same as the rest of us.”

Pre-school supervisor Kerry Winton said: “I don’t think the parents were as overwhelmed as we were!

“They said ‘we know’, which was really lovely and even past families have congratulated us.”

Holbrook is what is known as a ‘packaway setting’. The pre-school is set up each morning at North Heath Hall and then dismantled when the children have gone home.

Kerry said: “To maintain an outstanding learning environment that is not purpose built is quite an achievement.

“We’re really very proud of it. We were delighted.”

Nicky Moors congratulated her team and thanked them for all their hard work not only during nursery hours but in their own time as well.

She added: “It is because of their dedication that once again we have been graded outstanding by Ofsted.”

Holbrook will be hosting a coffee morning on Friday (March 11) from 9.30-10.30am. Anyone who would like to find out more about the pre-school is welcome to attend.
